Fireworks Amelia Paper Mill by Judy Merson

September 2020 - Fireworks Amelia Paper Mill

About the Image(s)

This is a composite of three fireworks images from 2017 placed on a background of a paper mill on Amelia Island Fl taken in 2015 handheld. I took the Paper mill image with my Sony Nex 6 and 55-210 Sony lens. The fireworks were taken with my Sony a6000 and Sony 50 mm 1.8 lens on a tripod. I selected fireworks images and removed the black background and saved them in a new document I could then copy onto the background I used free transform to size the fireworks I used Viveza 2 from Nik to decrease some bright spots on the background

The luminosity of the water, the mill, and the sky are all just right to beautifully display the fireworks. I would like the image a little more if there were some "evidence" of reflections of the fireworks in the water.   Posted: 09/02/2020 15:05:00

I would not have known this was a composite. I do agree with Robert, that the one thing that is missing is the reflections of the fireworks in the water. It's all in the details, isn't it?! You are getting quite good at compositing.

Beautiful image. One of these days I may get lucky and learn how to capture fireworks.   Posted: 09/16/2020 11:30:49

Very nice work with the 4 photo combination.
The colors are vivid, sharp, no distractions and look like they were taken on one frame. Agree the reflections from the fireworks would be a nice addition. No suggestions to aid the reflections but enjoy your work.   Posted: 09/16/2020 13:13:40

I like the thought of combining the 2 photos, but agree that it might be nicer to have a few specs of the fireworks reflected in the water. Fireworks are also challenging to capture, at least for me. I think it's nice and I like the subtle silhouette of the boats as well.   Posted: 09/17/2020 11:09:34

I thought about it and decided that I would imagine that the fireworks were in the distance and would not reflect in the water At some future time I will try to put the reflections in the water and see what that looks like   Posted: 09/17/2020 21:58:01

I looked up images of fireworks over water and found several without reflections in the water   Posted: 09/18/2020 15:42:08
