August 2020 - 4th of July

About the Image(s)

The photo attached was taken from a parking garage overlooking the marina area and St Pete Harbor in front of the Yacht Club. I left the harbor lighting and distant Condominium lights for perspective on fireworks size.

The time lapse for the shot was 2 sec at f/16 with the display being about of a mile from the camera location.

Red, white, and blue! It's not often that you can see these three simultaneously in aerial fireworks. For shots like this, I wonder if it works to combine two shots, one of the fireworks, and one of the lights on the ground where the exposure has been adjusted so that the ground lights don't compete with the fireworks.   Posted: 08/04/2020 10:30:59

Thanks for the reply. The bright lights are a distraction but having looked at the scene many time to photo the 4th of July, my personal opinion won out over better judgement.   Posted: 08/04/2020 16:14:46

It's been a couple of years since I tried photographing fireworks. I remember it was great fun. I like this image. Your timing was perfect. I might clone out a couple of the brighter lights lower right and the large white one on the left. Otherwise, very nice.

Nice shot of the firework, it is difficult to get this kind of shots, i likeit and the light at the bottom does not bother me.   Posted: 08/04/2020 17:27:59
