About the Image(s)

I call this image Paper Kite It is an Idea Leuconoe butterfly. Common names are Paper Kite, Tree Nymph, Giant Wood Nymph and Rice Paper Butterfly. They come from West Malaysia. I took this at the local Butterfly World at about 4 pm I handheld my Sony a6400 with Sony 90 mm 2.8 lens ISO 4000, 90 mm, f=4.0, 1/640. I brought it into Lightroom and did a basic adjustment and cropped close to the butterfly. Then into Luminar 4 for AI adjustment. Finally back to Photoshop CC for sharpening and sizing

It is a really nice photograph, and a nice butterfly as well. Quite amazing that you could take this handheld. I wish my camera could take decent pictures at ISO 4000. The red is important in this because the butterfly is uncolored. I found the tangle of stems behind the butterfly to be distracting so I blurred them.   Posted: 03/11/2020 16:43:14

Great photograph, Judy. The flower makes the image. Both of the two subjects are really nice and sharp   Posted: 03/11/2020 19:24:36

Your subject is nicely framed and as mentioned above, the red adds needed color to the composition. I do prefer it with the background blurred. I find it interesting that with this butterfly, it is the background that supplies the color. :-)

I like the overall composition of the image and the butterfly on the flower is a great capture. I think it is a little grainy all over. Robert's suggestion of blurring the background may help that, but I think he added a little too much blur.   Posted: 03/16/2020 10:01:04
