About the Image(s)

This is 7 yr old Macie . I'm not very practiced at motion shots but had fun watching her and getting in some practice. I shot this particular one at 1/6400 at f4.8. After making some minor adjustments I added a circular blur to contribute to the sense of motion.

It is a fun picture. The blurring nicely reduced the texture of the ground, but the concentric circles that were formed still somewhat distract me. Maybe painting on some blurring with a brush would be better. I think I like it better in monochrome as then the colors don't distract me from Macie.   Posted: 01/02/2020 13:36:21

Thank you for the suggestions. I wasn't entirely happy with the concentric circles, was just trying something different. I will try using the brush instead as you suggested. I did try it in bw, but prefer the color version myself.   Posted: 01/02/2020 13:56:27

Lovely capture. Your crop has removed much of the background distraction. Your subject does not seem to be aware of yur presence and the moment is lovely. Any way you could sharpen just an area around the eyes and a bit of the hair on her face? Lovely photo.   Posted: 01/11/2020 12:51:08

Such a beautiful child I applaud your trying motion Perhaps panning would keep her sharp and blur the background in camera. I agree with blurring the background, but the circles are somewhat distracting as Robert noted Perhaps a sideways motion blur of just the blue barrel and a blur of the background would work.
I like the saturation and sharpness of her face in the original I agree with Tom about her face benefiting from sharpening   Posted: 01/11/2020 20:43:02

Without the title I would have thought she was bracing herself from the wind. You captured amazing movement in her hair. The circular blur is very subtle, and I didn't really notice it until you mentioned you did it. I like the processed version better than your original, but the original has a little contrast in the colors which I think is nice.   Posted: 01/14/2020 10:11:14

Nice capture, nice motion, a little be too much on blurring, otherwise I love it.   Posted: 01/20/2020 17:34:08

Macie will love this memory and thank you for being there to take it! I have nothing to add to it.   Posted: 01/25/2020 20:31:06
