Maude's View by Dorinda Wills

October 2019 - Maude's View

About the Image(s)

During the Spokane PSA Conference we took a tour to Steptoe Butte in the Palouse area of Eastern Washington. A unique area, this is a popular spot for photographers. It was extremely windy and we were hanging onto our tripods to keep them steady! I spotted Maude, a PSA member, in her bright orange jacket, looking out over the view. The fields are harvested wheat and other grains. You can see wind turbines in the distance. Some processing in Topaz.

You could not ask for a better color import for your landscape than the one your friend provided! Great way to present this spectacular, though somewhat drab, landscape. Great shot and GREAT THINKING!   Posted: 10/05/2019 17:18:05

I think we all have seen some stunning photographs of this region of Washington. I'd have found it frustrating to have been at the right place, but at the wrong time for a great picture, and you did wonderfully well at making the best of the situation. As Jon noted, the color of Maude's coat is crucial to the success of your shot.   Posted: 10/06/2019 10:28:37

Nice sharp landscape Interesting clouds The red jacket adds the needed interest to the drab landscape. If Maude were closer to the left line of thirds it would be even better   Posted: 10/09/2019 12:03:25
