About the Image(s)

Recently we took a 2 day trip around the Olympic Peninsula (Natl. Park). One of our stops was at Hurricane Ridge which is about 5200 feet. Although sunny below it was overcast with some fog near the top. Driving back down from the visitor center I took this image and played with some effects in Topaz. Not a great image, but I would be interested in your thoughts.

I like the composition of the cropped image as it is balanced, and no important feature hits (slightly overlaps) another important feature. The saturation is too much for my taste, and I think it also helps the image to darken somewhat the final mountain range. Right now, my interest sort of escapes out the top left hand corner.
The original image, cropped as you have, and merely brightened (and perhaps with the final mountain range darkened a bit) has lovely calm and serene feel.   Posted: 08/01/2019 14:43:28

Robert, Thank you for your critique. This is exactly the sort of in put I am looking for.

Good mountain scape and would agree with adding the third tree on the right to the composition. Your mountains on the left and right are good leading lines to keep the eye coming back to the central tree..The composition is good and the out of focus background keeps the focus on the foreground. The ground cover in the foreground looks out of focus and may just be the nature of the vegetation and keeps the eye centered on the Spruce trees. Nice photo.   Posted: 08/03/2019 09:01:18

Nice compositon, Dorinda. I like the solitary tree with the mountain directing the eye to it's solitude. The image would have benefited from a sharper focus on the tree and the surrounding grasses. Overall, a very nice photograph.   Posted: 08/05/2019 19:59:16

Thank you Leonid. I think I did give it a softer effect.

I also feel that the softer effect is appropriate for this image.   Posted: 08/07/2019 10:08:44

Your cropping and color enhancements make this image much better. I like the painterly quality. Although there isn't much going on in the image, I think it is a beautiful landscape shot.   Posted: 08/10/2019 08:35:18

Beautiful landscape. I agree with cropping out the right tree I like the painterly effect of the Topaz filter.   Posted: 08/10/2019 13:30:18

I think that it is a really nice landscape, with the colors in the grass and the mountains in the background. I would tone down the brightness of the mountains.   Posted: 08/10/2019 15:27:14
