About the Image(s)
I took this shot in a restaurant in New Hope, PA. We were actually sitting at a table that was in little indoor terrace. Only our table could fit, so the light from the window was behind me while I was shooting in towards the tables. The original was a mess. I had to crop, straighten lines and then I darkened to it to get the moody feel. I shot this with my iPhone. We were also the only people in the place at the time. I thought it was something different. I would love your thoughts.

For me there are too many different things going on in this image.
I kind of like the lurking bartender if the window is cropped out and the dark areas are lightened. The modern thermostat on the wall and the electrical outlet don't fit the mood, but can easily be removed.

A nice moody capture of the restaurant. I do not think the silhouette of the bartender adds to the image and would crop from the right eliminating the bartender and the yellow light above him. I would leave the left side in since I like the contrast of the dark interior with the window, however I would selectively decrease the brightness of the menu on the left a little, perhaps with Viveza 2.
I do not think the lightened HDR image conveys the same dark moody ambience of your original.   Posted: 06/09/2018 16:51:14

I like the overall mood and I would keep the window and the bartender. I would just take out the four ceiling lights (Spot Healing Brush in Photoshop).   Posted: 06/10/2018 06:21:51
Interesting picture, great range of colors, good exposure in most areas and a lot of content. One rule I use it to look for bright colors like the ceiling spot lights and the pantry ceiling light. All of then draw the eye away from the main subject and could be darkened or eliminated. The pantry light keeps the eye in the pantry looking for more detail . A suggestion would be to crop the right side of the picture from the right side of the pantry frame, Crop horizontally just above the light piece of crown molding. All of the changes make the window and table the focus. (If the shot was taken from a slightly higher angle to include some of thee table setting it may make the scene a little stronger. ) You have a good eye for compositito,color.etc.   Posted: 06/10/2018 15:47:13

To me, part of the plant partly in front of the window is not soothing, it feels a little like a poke in the eye. I'll still advocate for the sinister feeling generated by the bartender in the background.   Posted: 06/11/2018 12:06:00

This is an interesting image to me. I like the dark mood of it although there may be too much of it. The crops on the right make the more inviting table by the window the dominant feature. Upon expansion that the cropping provides, some of the features might be removed or simplified.   Posted: 06/13/2018 13:38:22

Nice crop that removes interesting but distracting content. Leaving the one ceiling light points the viewers eye back to the main focul point of the phots.   Posted: 06/14/2018 09:59:15

I got a little lost in the original. I like Leonid's crop which includes one ceiling light. For me, the window lighting works very well to hilight the subject area.   Posted: 06/16/2018 11:20:29
