Storms Brewin by Bob Legg

October 2020 - Storms Brewin

About the Image(s)

Taken 20 min after the Lightning strike I submitted last month. Storm continued in get larger while staying close or moving closer to me. Yes, I was disappointed to have the tree in the lower left moving in the wind. I cropped what I could but did not think I should crop it more than submitted. This was a 10 sec exposure, iso 400, f 4.5 and 40mm focal length before cropping. I enhanced the blue hour sky and the magenta tint.
What do you think prefer last months or this month?

Question - why would you be disappointed to have the tree moving in a storm? That's what trees do in storm!

I definitely like last month's lightening strike image better. The colors in this one seem unnatural and I don't think the cloud formation looks like a storm is brewin'.   Posted: 10/12/2020 13:59:09

I love the clouds. I don't thing the tops of the trees add much. I played with the hue. :-)   Posted: 10/13/2020 20:54:05

I prefer this one from last month, the cloud texture is great and in focus. Love the tones & hue!   Posted: 10/16/2020 16:58:12

You had several options--even slower SS to show motion in the trees, or do just the sky as Karen did. You could keep the sky as a sky and add it to an image that needs a new sky. I have a folder of skies and need to learn how to work them in better--hard with foliage! I used NIK to make some changes.   Posted: 10/16/2020 16:59:16

Thanks Judy. Already done, I have over 500 skies in a folder for sky replacement and I created a Cloudscape keyword also for those that have non-cloud foregrounds.
Im even adding Fireworks and Rainbows to the skies. So much potential to liven up a boring image.   Posted: 10/16/2020 17:28:13
