Elk and Calf by Karen Harris

June 2020 - Elk and Calf

About the Image(s)

I took this picture today, June 3 at Sprague Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park. We came upon this quite unexpectedly. I used my 28-300 lens at 300. I used automatic settings because I was afraid I would miss the image if I started messing with settings.

Absolutely the best approach to shoot first and then make adjustments. A great moment caught. What happened to the Mom's ear on the right. Either she moved her head at last second or you made a clone in the water and caught the edge of her ear. Talk about last minute.   Posted: 06/10/2020 21:18:49

I have no idea what happened to that ear between here and there. Here is what I sent in.   Posted: 06/10/2020 22:00:59

It wasn't me. Not sure how that happened to you. The X and 0's had a studdering issue? Now it is perfect.   Posted: 06/10/2020 22:19:26

Beautiful nature image that shows life of the elk--mother and babe. I figured the ear flopped over, but the added one is much better. A gremlin got in the system:-). All I can say is this is a great nature picture.   Posted: 06/13/2020 10:04:16

Gotta be ready when you out in nature areas. Nice image overall - composition, color, clarity, interest.   Posted: 06/14/2020 12:57:41
