Harper's Ferry Sunset by Bob Legg

June 2020 - Harper's Ferry Sunset

About the Image(s)

Came across this beautiful tree in Harper's Ferry Battlefield. The original image taken at -2.0 ev ISO 400 f8 @ 1/400 sec. was of a hi-overcast sky. Sky replaced in Luminar. Foreground and distant hill darkened in curves. I know sky is too dark for some, but I liked the silhouette

This is beautiful. I think it would be even more effective if the bottom part of the picture were also part of the silhouette effect. And I also cropped it to an 8 x 10 size.   Posted: 06/10/2020 12:03:51

Thanks Karen. I re-edited this image just before sending and I obviously forgot to fix that foreground as for the 8x10 vs the 8x12 I generally crop to the original aspect. I take it that you found it more appealing to not have it centered,

What a fabulous sky--one can dream of finding in a good spot. The darker areas in the sky seem a bit too dark to me, but it could be my monitor or eyes!. I also cropped it and removed the plant on the right side and one along the edge on the left.

I've forgotten where you live, but you are in the Mid_Atlantic Chapter. We have a new webmaster who is working on getting it connected to the PSA website. Members can have galleries so that would be an opportunity for you to do a gallery.

Beautiful image. My local club's theme a couple of months ago was "Silhouettes" - you'd have been the winner with this image. I like Judy's 8x10 idea.   Posted: 06/14/2020 13:04:55
