About the Image(s)

We recently spent three weeks in Rocky Mountain National Park. I took around 1700 photos. This one just made me smile, as this sweet female deer was just right under the balcony of our condominium one evening. When I walked out on the balcony, instead of running, she just looked up at me as if she was asking to come in. (It was tempting to oblige.) She let me take at least a dozen photos before she decided to meander off. I did nothing fancy, just used my 28-300 lens at 185mm, ISO 200, at f6

She's looking at your for a handout, not a place in front of the TV! That look was pretty common at friend's house when they forgot to put the corn out before 5pm. I think the image is good photographically, but, personally, I don't find it interesting.   Posted: 10/14/2018 20:05:45

beautiful! The face and especially the eyes are nice and sharp and the background is out of focus enough to put more emphasis on the animal. The ears are bigger than I would expect. How lucky to spend 3 weeks in the park as it provides more opportunities. We've been through it, but never have spent much time there.   Posted: 10/15/2018 20:21:55

Great capture of an animal portrait. Detailed, sharp, and engaging. It appears to me to have a blue color cast. I also darkened the background a little to try to add a little depth. Maybe just more blur would do the same. I guess that is why wildlife photogs buy the big lenses that weigh a thousand pounds. You are a master.   Posted: 10/17/2018 12:52:35

There were supposed to be a lot of mule deer around Salt Lake too, but I saw a lot more pronghorn than deer.   Posted: 10/17/2018 15:53:32
