Very nice. The colors are beautiful. I think I would like to see more depth of field in this photo. It appears that the most focused part is the edge of the petals and that is nice, but that still leaves a good portion of this flower not in focus.   Posted: 07/06/2017 16:01:46

Thanks Karen. Interesting that I use two monitors. In both of them (calibrated) the rose is very sharp. But, I do notice what you are talking about here.   Posted: 07/07/2017 10:00:22

I seem to be in a mood to edit images today. I can't comment on sharpness yet, but I think the reds, greens and yellows work together well. Flash might help on macro shots, but macro's have not been something I've tried much. Fuji does not really have a good macro lens, so I doubt I;ll get involved. I love other peoples images though. I applied a golden spiral frame while cropping this in LR. Does anyone like the resulting crop?   Posted: 07/07/2017 11:26:33

I'm still trying to figure what happened to it in cyberspace. Your crop I think is too much off on the right side. And, I guess wonder why the crop is necessary other that you "were in the mood"? That's fine, have fun.   Posted: 07/07/2017 13:10:33

You are correct that there was no need on my part to crop. Your image is fine as submitted. I was just checking your crop in LR to see what you might have used. I ran across the golden spiral, and it seemed like a flower might be a good fit. I have a lot of flowers to shoot, and I was wondering about this crop pattern.I'm glad your roses are doing well. Ours are at their peak. Is this a Betty Boop?   Posted: 07/07/2017 14:09:18

It is hard to get focus "perfect" without focus stacking or a very small aperture. You might be able to get a lens adapter that would enable you to use another brand of macro lens. I've been watching a class online with Frans Lanting and he used telephoto lenses for macro work and there are adapters that help with focal distance. I used a vignette and glamour glow. I like the focus on the bud in the lower left; the other one is out of focus and that hurts the image IMHO. In fact if you could clone that out, the rest wouldn't look so soft. The colors are lovely.   Posted: 07/09/2017 15:07:38

I use focus stacking quite often. And you are correct. This was a grab shot as I walked by in the garden. I think mainly I liked the color and the DOF.

I think the colors in this shot are awesome. I'm not as impressed with the softness of the flower. I think it would really jump out if it were sharper.   Posted: 07/19/2017 20:18:43

The color is beautiful. It looks like it's glowing from within. I think the bud on the right is a little distracting though.

Maybe I worry about ISO too high.
However you had a nice picture.May I crop and constract like this.   Posted: 07/20/2017 14:05:39
