LIFE GOES ON..... by Deborah Milburn

April 2021 - LIFE GOES ON.....

About the Image(s)

"2020 has been a difficult year for everyone, and my son and daughter in law were no exception. I was visiting them in Anchorage, Alaska in March 2020 when everything began to be identified and shut down. I left when this was happening. Now, as was everyone, they were dealing with kids out of school, business shut down, etc. In August, my daughter in law's mother was tragically killed in a car accident. Needless to say, everyone was in turmoil and grieving. I came back to visit in September and November. Both visits were very emotional and difficult.

As the new year began, my son had a work assignment that would take him away from home for four months. He has been able to visit two different weeks. His assignment will end in the middle of April. In February, my daughter in law asked if I would come and help with the kids. She wanted to take a real estate course. I was thrilled that she asked and that she wanted to plan something for herself. As you know, there is only one answer - YES. I came for ten days. At the end of my visit, I wanted to take some portrait images of the kids. We had been busy with daily life, so I had not been photographing.

For two children to both be in a good mood at the same time can be a challenge. It was Sunday morning before I was to leave on Monday. They dressed up and we tried out luck. It was cold and overcast. As you can see, Thomas was in a good mood, and Charli thought it was too cold. I truly love the picture.

I am happy to report that "life goes on", and they are healing and accepting. With two young children, there is alot to look forward to."

The image was shot at f5.6, 1/125 and 105mm. The background was snow, so it was easy to have the white background. I changed it to black and white.

Beautiful black and white portrait of the three of you, and even with the one unhappy face. You are right, it's difficult, especially with children, to have all the faces with smiles and eyes lit up! 2020 was definitely a 'different' sort of year for each of us I'm sure. The love for your GRANDS shines through this photo.   Posted: 04/10/2021 18:35:13

A great picture and I like it as a BW. I wonder what your granddaughter will think 20+ years from now when she looks at this.   Posted: 04/13/2021 20:57:45

Thank you so much for your comments. My daughter in law is doing better. It was hard enough but to have COVID made it worse. The celebration of life is at the end of May. I do plan to be there. I just want to support. It was a stretch for me to put something so personal out there. Again, many thanks for your kind comments.   Posted: 04/29/2021 20:07:02
