About the Image(s)

Palouse after Harvest
Last year at the PSA conference, I went on two photo tours of the Palouse Valley, one at sunrise and one at sunset. Weather and clouds/sky was perfect both times. It was the end of September and the crops had already been harvested and what was left made for beautiful textures. I took so many pictures, it was hard to pick one for this. I liked the texture that was left on this hill. In LR, I adjusted the exposure. Because it was so bright out, the slope at the top of the rise was black. In LR, I worked in Curves to get it lighter and show more of the texture.
Tech info: 1/500, f/8, ISO 500.

Don't you just love lines! The diagional presentation helps give movement and helps the eye travel up to the next ridge and right on up to the beautiful sky. This shot might have been a good one to try two or three shot HDR, since there was such a difference in the tonal range. You did well in post processing. A nice miniminalist image.   Posted: 10/10/2020 12:08:09

Nice going. This is so different from so many of the other Palouse shots. The simplicity is great. I think this renders well in monochrome as well (I am in monochrome group 32).   Posted: 10/12/2020 13:17:25

Kathy, Very nice I really like the clouds "sitting on the earth" look. In this case less is more. I look at it often and see little things every time. I just noticed the bushes at the top.   Posted: 10/15/2020 10:18:08

Hi Kathy:

My apology and not giving comments sooner, I have been on so many fall trips and doing a lot of shoots. I have a lot to share with you. I also won 2 PSA international awards. Just received my medals on 2 images for the judges choice awards. Both had perfect scores. Super excited. I have them 2 images framed and in my office with the medals.
Nice layering of the image. I love the puffy clouds in the background. I too would prefer the image to be monochrome to give it much more a a dramatic effect.   Posted: 10/30/2020 12:54:56

Congratulations! Can you please post the two images that won the PSA international awards. As for my images, I agree BW is much better.   Posted: 10/30/2020 13:09:39
