About the Image(s)

I like to change it up per month. This month I decided to do creative portraiture. I did a lot of portraits back in 2015. I pick this one and decided to do a oil painting with a canvas background. My setting were: Nikon d7000 with a 18mm-140mm zoom lens@22mm. F/14 at 1/250 sec at ISO 160 with a 1/3 Flash kickback. This was taken at Windmill pointe in Holland Michigan on July 30th, 2015.

I think the painterly filter does a nice job. I like using the filters. I might consider a lighter brush stroke on the face and body.   Posted: 06/14/2020 14:08:35

Thanks Deb for your honest feedback. I was wondering about the effects of the face.   Posted: 06/17/2020 11:55:59

Hi Tom, What a change. I would like to see the original. I am not a real fan of the painting stuff but it is good to step outside the box and do something different. Thanks for sharing...I usually am not that brave.
Good post and getting the image the way you wanted it.

I think it's great to try new and different ideas. I like the idea of oil painting but think it would look better if not as heavy and texturized. I would try a lighter touch with the texture and even lighter or maybe not at all on her face and other body parts. I like her legs and boots and diagonal white and red lines and would try cropping from her midwaist down.   Posted: 06/18/2020 21:41:28

I like the composition, movement within the frame, and the windmill in the background. I wonder what it would look like if you selected the subject and just painted the bk. ground. I do understand wanting to try new things but have not been brave enough to attempt this one yet.   Posted: 06/23/2020 15:39:59

Great photo of this young woman! Oil painting is a nice change! I'm not certain how you did it through PS or a filter, but perhaps you might consider reducing the opacity of the oil paint layer and mask off the darker tones on the model's face. Looks like a fine event!   Posted: 06/26/2020 18:52:43
