The Hayfields by Wanda Krack

June 2020 - The Hayfields

About the Image(s)

Camera Info: F6.7, 1/180th sec., ISO 100 105mm (with 105macro lens), shot on 5/24/2020 in the a.m.

Picture Info: The hayfields around my little house have been in full bloom in more than one way this past month. Some bachelor button seeds seem to have escaped from my yard and added to the grass and clover blooms in the field. I wanted to capture the feeling of the bloomers mixed in with the green grass. I processed this image using the Orton effect (80%opacity and blur at 26), then took it to topaz lab, using the soft look, with small details slider moved to the right. Back in ps, I used the sharpen tool on some of the grass seed. The results are not exactly what I had in mind, but this is how it turned out.

I am not sure but crop from the bottom and left side would emphasize the blooms. Nice image.   Posted: 06/14/2020 14:10:41

Thanks Deborah for the idea, and yes, I agree. One of the reasons I took this mostly out of focus image was to remind myself of the fact that everything was blooming in the field at once. It would have been nice to have had a greater dof, but the wind would not allow it. Thanks for your response.   Posted: 06/23/2020 15:42:11

I like the sharpness of the two blue flowers and would consider cropping it like Deborah suggested.   Posted: 06/18/2020 21:45:49

Thanks for the suggestion Kathy. I can see what you mean, and it would simplify the image a good bit.   Posted: 06/23/2020 15:43:07
