About the Image(s)

We had an amazing speaker at camera club tonight who spoke about B&W photography and how it changes to mood of the image. After the meeting I decided to give it a try. I have attached the original which is straight out of the camera and the converted to BW image. I think they give off such completely different feelings. I do realize that the comparison is unfair since the original was not even taken into photoshop for any type of editing, but the mood is what I am comparing. I’m going to mess around with B&W more often.

Yes. the original is a photo of a flower. the conversion is a great study of the flow of light and shade, The gradual change of light coming from the centre is very effective. I like the lines and patterns on the leaves. Great Image.   Posted: 03/08/2023 12:06:55

I love your treatment of this image, you have brought out so much more detail in the petals, and the stamens. In your original image the yellow colour had reduced the contrast and therefor the detail in the centre of the flower. Your conversion has also simplified the background completely reducing any possible distraction there.   Posted: 03/13/2023 04:05:26

The original is a good image, but rather conventional if you know what I mean. The conversion to mono resulted in a unique rendition of that flower, also because simplified the background. Great job!   Posted: 03/14/2023 16:34:05

The black and white really works great with this image. The texture in petals is wonderful and the stamen stands out much more. The whites could be amplified a little to increase the overall contrast. Well done.   Posted: 03/14/2023 16:43:05

Love this textured black and white. The contrast of the s, circles and straight lines are exquisite.
Very nice conversion and post processing.
