About the Image(s)

Just had time to grab my cell phone and snap this photo. Edited in Google Photos and Paintshop. It was gone before I could get my "real" camera.

For me this image is overall too dark, the attraction really is the colour in the sky and the disk of the sun just coming through the trees. You have lost virtually all the detail on the ground. and the blue cast on the lighter areas there is very dark. I would using a gradients to lighten up and reduce the blue saturation of the base of the image, leaving the sky as it is.   Posted: 12/08/2020 03:49:13

You caught me! I did darken the foreground to hide the mailbox and neighbor's house. I like your alternative better. Had not thought about using a gradient. Thanks, as always.   Posted: 12/08/2020 07:52:42

Beautiful sky and the best "real" camera is always the one you have with you! I like Jon's suggestion and you could clone out the mailbox and the other item at the bottom of the image.   Posted: 12/08/2020 11:19:41

The sunset is beautiful, but too much detail is lost in the dark areas.   Posted: 12/09/2020 10:36:45

I think this probably a typical case of what you see with your eyes disappoints when you see the picture. It is a beautiful sunset, but to me the beauty does not hold my attention. Maybe if you had cropped it very tightly the image could have been more attractive. But I don't know how much cropping you can do on a cell phone image.   Posted: 12/25/2020 17:10:52

My feeling is that too much is cropped from the left. i think a wider view would have showed off the light better. And the mail box could have been cloned out. in the available light I would not expect to see foreground detail, it is not part of the story anyway.   Posted: 12/27/2020 04:59:37
