June 2020 - Church of Good Shepherd

About the Image(s)

Tekapo - South Island – New Zealand. Magical place.
Top Tourist spot. Very hard to get without people.
Taken at 275mm, at 1/160,f8 and iso800
Light was a little flat at 3pm, so a lot of work on light, dark, contrast, dhaze

This is one of the scenes that you must photograph when you are there, with the chapel standing out against he background of the mountains. I wonder if you could have moved more to the right so that the front of the chapel would not have been so near to the edge of the frame.
To me this should be a mono image - have converted it using 2 black and white adjustment layers.   Posted: 06/12/2020 06:02:15

Well, I like the color better. Yes the light is a bit flat, but up the exposure slightly - very slightly or use curves in PS. I appreciate the contrast of colors of the stone in the church and the tones including rust in the mountains. Very cool shot.   Posted: 06/21/2020 13:06:47

This image looks a little flat. It might be that all the colors are muted. When it was converted to black and white, the image was so much more vibrant. Overall, I nice image.   Posted: 06/12/2020 18:14:38

Agree with Jon, I like it black and white. Great mountains and awesome that you got it "tourist free".   Posted: 06/12/2020 18:31:29

Also I think there is more information in the roof and that could have been brought out more. Also note the tones in the rust bushes and mountains, I think those are great!   Posted: 06/21/2020 13:08:33

Very cool location! I like the warm light on the church with the mountain range behind it, well done. Would be a great spot for a milky way shoot if it is behind it.   Posted: 06/29/2020 11:29:44

If it were possible, I would have preferred to see more of the entrance. I like the light on the side of the church, reason why I would not convert it to monochrome. I would crop part of the mountains on the left so as not to take attention away from the beautiful light on the side of the building.   Posted: 06/29/2020 12:34:28
