About the Image(s)

This is a shot I took before Christmas.
I have a friend who is restricted to his car and he is an avid photographer. So, I went with him and shot this from the car. Auto as always. Cropped. straightened and cleanned in Luminar. Totally represents the weather in Indiana: relatively overcast and in the 50s. Oh, so yearning for those snow flakes you'll might be having.

Good job of cleaning this cup. Becca. I am wondering if the tree on the right would look better a little blurred since it is in the distance where everything else is blurry. The sky looks great, but the wires running in the back bother me only a little.   Posted: 01/09/2020 14:06:55

OOooh, nice catch. I didn't even notice them. Yup-o, got to go-o.
Not sure how to blur the other trees--layer perhaps? They really are in line with the two trees along the bank but could blur them. I thought about removing them but thought I'd wait to see what others thought. Thanks.   Posted: 01/10/2020 09:22:41

This could have been taken in the northwest of the UK as we have very similar weather for a lot of the year, but without the ice on the water. I feel that you have made a good decision to crop off parts of the base and sky to reduce the height of the image, and the left hand side to remove the tree trunk that attracts attention because of the contrast between it and the water. Wires are a problem in many landscape images, and they are not easy to clone out of skies, maintaining the original edges of clouds and tones in the blue so that the cloning cannot be detected. The tees on the right, form a good stop to the image as we read across it.   Posted: 01/12/2020 05:05:38

I love simple images of trees and water like this (and I love making them). They represent, like this one, so effectively the atmosphere this time of year. I had not seen the wires until someone pointed them out. They are easily removed in PS/content aware cloning. The cropping at the bottom brings an overall harmony to the image.   Posted: 01/20/2020 14:28:40

The trees on the right balance the main pair. As do the reflections balance with their trees. Perhaps moving to the left if possible would have enabled the main reflections to be not dissected. Perhaps a little contrast added to the sky would have added punch. Yes, Photoshop Content Aware Fill is a good tool for wires.   Posted: 01/20/2020 22:53:21

Nice improvements and you have created a nice image. I do like the idea of a little more contrast in the sky and removal of the wires.   Posted: 01/21/2020 09:35:53

Wonderful balance of earth, water, tree and sky in this composition. I love your decision to crop. I would suggest the foreground could be a bit lighter, some of those leaves might add a bit more color.   Posted: 01/21/2020 11:06:00
