Through the Bubble by Renee Schaefer

October 2019 - Through the Bubble

About the Image(s)

This image was taken at the Maryland Renaissance Festival. Every year they feature a woman who entertain the children by blowing bubbles. I waited around until I finally got the shot that I wanted. I loved the bubble in the center of her face. This is the original picture.

Another fun festival for us. The colors in her dress are echoed in the bubbles. Nice depth of field. If I could, I might have edited out the guy standing off to her left. His blue shirt seems to distract from the blue of her hat.
Was there another photo that got the bubble over an eye? Nice either way.   Posted: 10/16/2019 11:17:13

Taking shots at events like this is usually quite frustrating as you have to wait to get the face or pose that you want and then something occurs in the background to spoilt it so you have to wait again. By reducing the saturation darkening and slightly blurring the background it helped to remove distractions there. I would have increased the yellow de-saturation as green the bushes on the right are one of the brightest parts of the image and so attract attention. As the lady was side-lit I feel that she would benefit from some lightening up to make her more dominant in the image.   Posted: 10/16/2019 12:19:30
