January 2018 - Looking Up

About the Image(s)

On my recent trip to Vietnam, we were scheduled to have a portrait session with 2 models in Hanoi. It was arranged to take place in the grounds of a large temple, unfortunately the morning turned out to have heavy rainfall. This meant that we had to struggle using some of the buildings to keep both the models and our cameras dry.

Taken on my X-Pro2 with 35mm fi.4 lens at 1/250th, f2.2, ISO 200. The underexposed image was lightened up in Lightroom. In the background, I cloned out some small light spots as the background was almost pitch black to start with and the original was very (2-3 stops) under exposed. Also, in Photoshop, I made minor adjustments to the saturation before sharpening with High Pass.

Wow, very nice and amazing shot under the conditions.
Only thing I might suggest is to smooth her facial skin. However, she is great without it.   Posted: 01/08/2018 08:57:23

Nice.. you did a nice job with the white dress and the lighting. Is there any background information there?   Posted: 01/13/2018 22:16:27

Nothing worth trying to recover from the under exposed raw file.   Posted: 01/14/2018 10:27:53

A very attractive image. You probably did not have control over the posing position which I think is rather artificial - something for a "Visit Vietnam" travel poster.I would have liked to see a little more detail in that beautiful hair, but is probably not possible giving the under exposure.   Posted: 01/18/2018 10:50:55

Excellent image... As usual, your image is well posed, your changes are spot on, and composition is great. Even her white dress doesn't draw more attention that her face. Great job.   Posted: 01/24/2018 20:04:41
