About the Image(s)
This image was made at the annual butterfly show at the Chicago Botanic Garden. They get butterflies from all over the world and release them in a controlled environment. I could get quite close to the butterflies as we were there early, before they begin to fly. I liked the original image, but after looking at it for some time , I decided to rotate it 90 degrees. I made some color adjustments in Lightroom.

The change to a landscape works out nice. The colors and background are very nice. Too bad the wings are not open more to show more of the colorful wing design.   Posted: 07/17/2017 15:33:32

I agree with Brad that the change to landscape works very well. Taking the butterfly from behind rather than the side is unusual but here has worked very well, especially as you have managed to create a deep enough depth of field to keep it all sharp.   Posted: 07/18/2017 08:04:44
The crop and flip makes the photo very different than the original. The flip is great! Good thought   Posted: 07/18/2017 13:27:03
Good background and flipping improved the image. Good saturation, nice butterfly placement. Overall very good image.   Posted: 07/26/2017 21:24:38
