Fall Trees by Jose Cartas

November 2020 - Fall Trees

About the Image(s)

Photo taken in one of the trails of the Canaan Valley Resort State Park, WV early October. I liked the colors, with the light coming through the leaves. Because of the high contrast I shot three images to produce an HDR. The photo was handheld, so I used a high ISO and had to sharpen the lower foreground in post-processing. Technical specifications: 55mm. lens, f/5.0, 1/100 sec. (-/+ 2), ISO 1250.

I think you have made a beautiful image of the forest. The ferns and the tress form patterns and look peaceful. The yellow color of the fern and the leaves proclaims that Autumn has arrived. It seems that the trunks of the trees which are close to the foreground appear too dark and lack detail.   Posted: 11/09/2020 06:09:33

I have just returned from the Smoky Mountains where I took lots of this kind of picture. This one is particularly good, as you have detail in the front trees and yet the background is not over bright due to your good use of HDR. The color palette presented is extremely pleasing.   Posted: 11/14/2020 13:20:11

I like how alive and vibrant this image appears. I am not sure if the dark trees in the foreground have a little bit of unrealistic lighting, due to the HDR effect. While it is nice not to have them detail less, I wonder if toning down the contrast for them might make them a little more natural in appearance   Posted: 11/25/2020 14:07:14
