Deerfield Pier at Moonrise by Mervyn Hurwitz

November 2020 - Deerfield Pier at Moonrise

About the Image(s)

The moon rose about 1 hour after sunset which provided the dark sky. There was some mist and cloud on the horizon, so this was about the first time that the moon was visible.

To my eyes the light from the pier, together with the reflection from the sea, forms an interesting Z line, and then leads to the moon. This is a nice composition. A lovely image.   Posted: 11/09/2020 06:19:10

The lights of the pier and their reflections drawing a Z are incredible. That's all you need for a perfect composition, but on top of it you got the moon on the right spot and a lot of texture in the sand. I like the image as it is, but you can also try to bring the brown areas (particularly in the sky) a little darker and closer to black. Also, I feel the pier tilted to the left (not much), something very easy to correct.   Posted: 11/14/2020 16:10:30

I like this composition. The only suggestion I have is to possibly use a color selection to replace the sky (and foreground reflection) with a deep blue to see what that might do.   Posted: 11/25/2020 14:02:16
