New Mexico Buttes by Guy Hawkins

December 2019 - New Mexico Buttes

About the Image(s)

I took a trip to AZ by train and this picture was taken through the window while the train was moving. Initially there was a reflection of the window in the sky on the right that I removed using the photoshop healing tool. I made some adjustments to the colors in photoshop but really could not get the reds to the color that I remember them. There was some cropping and sharpening.

This composition doesn't work for me. It may have been better to concentrate on a smaller part of the scene.   Posted: 12/10/2019 10:37:41

I just noticed that your image was not saved with a color profile (sRGB recommended for web display). When I bring into PS, the colors are way over saturated, but do not appear that way on the web. If I assign the sRGB before bringing into PS, it looks like the web image, with just a little more red saturation. Do the colors on the site look like you expect them to?
I agree with Mervyn's assessment. If the rock range would have had more variation, such as height, then it might have worked better. I am looking for detail variations, or patterns, and this smaller view does not give me that.   Posted: 12/12/2019 16:59:59

In my opinion this image does not have a focal point of interest.   Posted: 12/22/2019 05:13:51
