About the Image(s)

One of 3 images taken around the old railway station in town, in dull light. Thumbnail of original included. I'm working on a group of these for my railroad-enthusiast husband (2 thumbnails fyi, stjll in progress). I planned on B/W, and considered a grunge look, but trees and vines were busy and looked messy and dull, so I stuck with color. The hardest part was editing perspective because of the pole. Still seems a bit off to me. Pls forgive initials/date, done for a friend.

Samsung Galaxy s9: auto
Snapseed: cropped left side, removed white sticks with healing tool, applied nature HDR, adjusted perspective, increased saturation and highlights, added mild glow filter, sharpened slightly.

I really like the job you did in bringing out the color in this picture. I think the color was a good choice instead of black and white. I find the roof a little distracting and I would agree that the perspective is a little off but I don't find it that distracting. I really like your original 3 as well as original 2. I'm sure when you are done with the series your husband will really appreciate them.   Posted: 03/09/2019 16:12:46

You rescued the colors from a relatively dull image. You also improved a lot the position of the pole, although you can go a little further and have it fully vertical. The pole and the water tank (is it?) complement each other, and somehow the descending ramp contributes to the image. What I find unappealing is the large negative space created by the roof. It is a huge triangle that doesn't add anything to the composition. Unfortunately, I don't see how you can get rid of it and keep the main elements. By the way, I like your image 3 a lot, but would crop the top.

Like Original 3 also. I agree with Jose about the roofline. In Photoshop, I did some major warping, and then removed the rest of the roof with content aware.   Posted: 03/14/2019 17:10:42

But doesn't it cut it too close the top?   Posted: 03/14/2019 18:44:22

I agree with everyone about the roof. It provides a leading line right of of the picture, unlike the roof line in photo two whch sweeps the eye to a point of interest. I would emove the roof as Bob has done and the remove he pole. Agree; the crop takes too much off the pole   Posted: 03/16/2019 16:28:36

Good job with the color saturation. I generally like negative space as provided here by the roof, but perhaps it is a little too much. I would have cloned out the pole completely, then come down from the top, and just a little off the left.   Posted: 03/22/2019 12:29:23

Thanks! I liked the roof but worried it would be too much. Wish poles and lines would magically disappear!   Posted: 03/22/2019 16:57:30
