About the Image(s)

On my first day in Norway two weeks or so ago, we stopped at this beach, and a rainbow was rapidly disappearing. With no time to set up, I grabbed a snapshot. Five minutes later, it was raining, and we moved on. This image was done in Lightroom with contrast, clarity, highlights, and shadow adjustment, minor cropping and the Spot Removal Brush to clone out the annoying white cloud.
With more time, I will probably clone out some small stuff, particularly the white covered bails in the sheep farm, and the photographer.

Much to be said about always having your camera ready. How many rainbows do we see in a lifetime? And to be in an interesting spot to grab the image. The last rainbow I saw was from the parking lot of a large shopping mall.

This really captures the feel of the Norway coasts. The only thing I might do is either crop out, clone out or just darken the patch of blue in the upper left hand corner. I seems a free floating object that really isn't part of the interesting part of the scene, and the rdainbow points to it.. Your tonal balance is just perfect.   Posted: 10/09/2018 20:35:11

It's a beautiful scene. The rainbow is special, and I really like the water with small waves coming ashore. Lots to observe in the image. You were so lucky to get this! The edits took things to a wonderful level. I like the sections of blue sky but go back-and-forth on cropping to remove them. Just not sure if that much sky is needed.   Posted: 10/11/2018 16:46:46

Good capture and I salute your quick reaction to get it ! Might consider 'saturating' it a bit more to punch up the already good colors.   Posted: 10/13/2018 12:42:08

The post-processing rescued the image, taken at the right moment. The composition is very interesting, with the mountains forming a "v" and the rainbow perfectly placed. Beyond the rainbow, I like the light hitting the mountain on the right, and the repetition of the waves. If possible, I would try to darken the rainbow even more, making it more prominent in the image. I agree with you in cloning the white spots of the bails and the farm.   Posted: 10/14/2018 12:09:07

The rainbow makes the picture, and the light on the mountain on the left is great. The ocean waves adds a nice element to the left of the picture. The person does not bother me as he almost blends into the rock behind him. I would crop down from the top to eliminate the blue sky.   Posted: 10/16/2018 13:36:26

Thanks to those that mentioned the blue sky patch. I did not realize the distraction until it was pointed out.   Posted: 10/16/2018 13:46:25

On my first look the blue sky at the top in the middle of the picture was distracting although I have to admit that it is better than the white in the original. The more I view the picture the less it bothers me. I wonder how the picture would look with some haze reduction in Lightroom. You did a great job capturing the rainbow something that I find hard to do. I love how the beach and the mountains combine to bring you to a focal point that demands you see the rainbow.   Posted: 10/16/2018 17:01:58
