Pink Wall by Mervyn Hurwitz

October 2018 - Pink Wall

About the Image(s)

This house is on the island of Burano, Venice. The local fishermen paint their houses in bright colors so that they are more easily identified after returning from the sea.
I was attracted to the matching broom and bucket. Is it all too pink for you?

I love the texture of the wall. It looks like everything was staged for this shot............the pink is fun......I like the light causing shadows on the various surfaces of the wall and ground.   Posted: 10/09/2018 07:43:19

No, I love the pink and how everything happens to "match" up! I might crop a small portion of the far right and remove the pink hook in the left corner. I agree with Dave that the wall textures are nice, and I wonder if they can be emphasized even more. Fun shot!   Posted: 10/09/2018 17:04:29

Love the color combination. I might crop on the right. The wall behind on the right adds a bit of a distraction in my opinion. The exposre is right on and the texture is realliy nice   Posted: 10/09/2018 20:46:43

Not too pink for me ! as I think this is a great capture....Maybe adding a thin border would wrap it up even better.   Posted: 10/13/2018 12:44:10

Too pink? Are you kidding? That's what makes this photo. The first thing I noticed was the matching color of the bucket and the broom. Some have suggested to crop the right wall, but I don't see any problem in keeping it. For the rest, a perfect composition, with the broom and bucket balancing the bike (by the way, in perfect complementary color). I would only clone the white spots on the floor to eliminate distractions and darken or clone the white stain on the upper left of the wall.   Posted: 10/14/2018 12:11:21

Thanks for all your comments. I especially left in the wall on the right as I felt it added depth to the scene.   Posted: 10/16/2018 13:49:30

Pink works!
Love the results. I feel the right wall is okay, but might consider cropping the bright left edge wall, as I feel this may lead the eye there.   Posted: 10/16/2018 14:09:43

I love the colors. Not too much pink for me. The white against the prink is a real eye catcher. I might consider cropping the picture to remove the bright pink wall on the left side as Bob suggested.   Posted: 10/16/2018 16:28:58
