Garden of the Gods by Marla Henry

March 2020 - Garden of the Gods

About the Image(s)

Was visiting my son in Colorado Springs last month and can never resist time at Garden of the Gods. This is one of the rock formations and I liked how the sun was hitting it.

This was one of my favorite formations when we visited the Garden of the Gods. I think you captured the sharpness of the detail on the side of the peak very well, and I like the way the shadows accentuate the structure. I wanted to see if a vertical presentation would focus even more on the mountain and remove a few distractions from the shrub on the right. See what you think.   Posted: 03/09/2020 14:52:20

The sharpness and composition takes my breath away! The trees add to the depth of field , leading into the image. This needs to be enlarged and hung on a wall.   Posted: 03/18/2020 11:27:43

Terrific shot of rock formation of Garden of the Gods. you found a really good viewpoint and framed the mountain well. I like the diagonal of the subject going from the lower left corner to the upper right corner. There a bit distractions by the surroundings pulling the eye away from the formation. I agree with Audry's crop version.   Posted: 03/18/2020 23:39:29

Dynamic mountain image with good lighting and colors. I like Audrey's change better since it focuses more on the mountain.
I enlarged it in Lightroom and it was a little out of focus which would have to be addressed if you want to make a large print.   Posted: 03/19/2020 18:36:27

Does everyone understand that the Garden of the Gods formations were once horizontal, and were subsequently uplifted by geological forces and twisted to their present vertical alignment?   Posted: 03/20/2020 01:25:45
