Lizard by Ruth Holt

October 2019 - Lizard

About the Image(s)

I'm still working on my "Living Yard Art series; I caught a Stinging Scorpion, but put him over the fence in my neighbor's hay bale before I thought about taking a picture of it. This one is "Lizard". This was a grab shot taken 10-4-2019 with the phone/camera. Found him in the bottom of a empty flower pot. He is in bright sunshine. Opened in Snapseed; Looks>Pop, Tools; crop, tonal> contrast, drama>#1, sharpening, vingette. Sent to APS-CS6 where resizing and frame were done.

I like the top down view. I might try a vignette, but otherwise looks good.   Posted: 10/11/2019 21:47:24

I love the way the shadow separates the scorpion's body from the background, as well as the way the tones and shades of color work together.   Posted: 10/12/2019 19:12:26

What an impressive image. good colors, detail and good light. I especially like the texture and pattern of the lizard's body. I personally prefer a tighter crop to make it more intimate photo. I rotate the image to the left for adding more impact, I also do "crop & flip" and add a little clarity as well.   Posted: 10/18/2019 22:17:16
