Wasp and Spider by Ruth Holt

August 2019 - Wasp and Spider

About the Image(s)

My entry this month is one of a series I've started called "Living Yard Art". This will be what I find living in my yard...
"Wasp and Spider". The wasp kills the spider and then drags it to a safe spot and lays her eggs inside the spider...
Taken with the phone/camera on July 29, 2019. Opened and resized in APS-CS-6. Lasso subject>auto contrast>shadows/highlights, sharpen edges, dodge tool on dark part of wasp. Saved for web.

Interesting photo. The only suggestion I have is to lighten it some. Here's what I came up with.   Posted: 08/14/2019 12:13:38

I really like this image. The colors are great the subject is interesting. I wondered why the concrete on the top has a blue cast and the bottom a brown cast. My guess is the brown cast is a stain in the concrete since there are no pronounced shadows. I tried selecting the blue cast area and adjusting the temp and hue. The result is below. Not sure it is better, just different.   Posted: 08/23/2019 10:54:17

I think changing the blue is a good idea. I would probably like it closer to the same color as the foreground. I agree this is an interesting photo, but I find it kind of creepy to contemplate.   Posted: 08/29/2019 10:39:52
