About the Image(s)

D800, 1/250 s @ f/11, ISO 360; Nikkor f/1.4, 50mm (first Nikon lens I owned, purchased in 1968 and still going strong).
Here is a NE fall image from northern VT, one of my favorite locations for fall colors, taken in 2016. Glenda and I usually do a fall photo trip around New England, however, this year due to C-19 we stayed at home. VT has about 100 covered bridges and they make nice photo ops. We have visited less than half of them so we will have to get back on track next autumn. 2016 was not a particularly brilliant fall, but I do like the colors of the tree and bridge roof. The fence and road provide a nice leading line to the bridge. Some year I hope to go back here and do it as an early morning shot (If I'm willing to get up early enough). That will put the fence shadows across the road and sidelight the trees; maybe even give some morning steam rising up from the river.

It may be an oldie, but the composition is quite good. You have created a memorable road to journey down.   Posted: 11/02/2020 10:51:50

Tag, I lived in New Hampshire from 1977-1983 and loved the fall foliage, especially the sugar maples. I think you have a great idea about capturing the morning sunrise. Mid-day shadows are harsh. The clouds add a lot of interest and point to the sugar maple. Have you ever tried to take an HDR of the inside of a covered bridge? You might try that on your next trip too. New England Fall Colors is on our Bucket List. Your photo just whets my appetite even more. John, I like how you cropped the left side of the photo to create a leading line coming in from the left the side leading to the bridge. The crop also placed the bridge and fall colors in the sweet spots of the photo. As Jim mentioned the clouds in the sky add additional leading lines to the photo. Great New England Fall scene.   Posted: 11/03/2020 13:40:41

John Nice photo with beautiful autumn colors.

The contrasting black color at the center of the road distracts me a bit. I prefer the road in the original photo. Also many houses in the photo makes it bit busy. However, the locations of trees makes the photo attractive.   Posted: 11/13/2020 19:34:07

Your processed image certainly has more color than the original. I tend to push the color in an image quite a bit. You might consider increasing the saturation in the reds and yellows to make this lovely composition POP a bit more.
