About the Image(s)
Sony α99ii, Sony 70-200/2.8 G SSM II zoom lens; f/5.6, 1/750 seconds; ISO 100; 200mm; circular polarizer filter, handheld.
This little blue heron was a regular visitor on the beach at the Zӧetry Resort in Montego Bay in Jamaica. In Photoshop I cropped, used Camera Raw Filter to correct exposure, dehaze, highlights, shadows and in NIK used tonal contrast. I used the dodge tool to lighten areas on the head, bill and neck.

Beautiful! I love how sharp the bird and water he is standing in is and how the background is blurred. I like how it is framed. Great photo.   Posted: 01/03/2020 09:09:10
Nice photo with a simple unobstrusive background. Good details of the bird.
It looks like the body of the bird is more focused than its head. Good idea to blur the body a bit so that the focus will be more on the head.   Posted: 01/08/2020 04:54:09

Sam, thank you for your thoughts. As I listen to comments from judges in the Nature Division, all want to see tack sharp on every part of the bird/animal unless there is fast speed going on like a cheetah chasing prey. It was very windy, so shooting at 1/750 second stopped most of the motion. The little blue heron's "bad hair day" might have motion blur from the wind, which is the way I wanted to capture the image.
In other words, I'm not sure what you mean. Dr. Jim   Posted: 01/08/2020 09:39:44
