The Fair Hill International Event in Elkton, Maryland is an equestrian annual event and this day was the cross-country race. My challenge every year is to capture the largest splash, panning the horse and rider for sharp facial details. The original needed a lot of work. In Photoshop I started with Camera RAW filter, adjusted white, highlights and shadows. Then, I extended the bottom of the photo using four duplicate layers to lengthen the amount of water in the pond. I cloned out the white tent, the jump and flowers at the base. I used the clone tool to clean up the legs. I used the dodge tool to bring details to the horse.

Very nice action photo. The rider is sharp and the background is blurred. You have done a great job in editing. Nice flashing of water.

In my opinion, this would go to the next level if the background is made lighter in color.   Posted: 12/06/2019 06:03:23

I like how you show the movement and water splaying yet the rider and horse are sharp. I think you were right to add to the sky and foreground. Well done Jim!   Posted: 12/10/2019 14:05:15

I'm impressed with your Photoshop skills. I don't detect signs of extending the image or other detail work that you did.

One little suggestion, you might want to consider toning down that very bright spot in the sky.   Posted: 12/18/2019 18:50:43
