Sunrise at Glamis Dunes by James Ricketts

November 2019 - Sunrise at Glamis Dunes

About the Image(s)

It is a series of four images taken with a Canon 1DX Mark II, Sigma 24-105 lens, ISO 200, f11, and 1/30th to 1/125th of a second. The shots were merged into an HDR image in Photoshop. Don’t often do HDR work, but had pretty large dynamic range in this situation due to the light change at sunrise and the shadows on the dunes.

Jim, I love the sweeping lines, textures and the way you evened out highlight and shadow in HDR. I admire your commitment to reach this isolated spot before sunrise to set up for it. Well done. Dr. Jim   Posted: 11/01/2019 11:28:46

Absolutely beautiful! Nice colors and shapes. Good lighting.

No ideas to improve the image. I love this image.   Posted: 11/03/2019 20:09:13

I like the rolling of the hills and the sand swept rows. You did a good job of making HDR. Well Done!   Posted: 11/04/2019 10:26:35

I love this image, but I really think your crop isn't the best. The small sliver of sky takes my eye out of the image.
And, in my opinion, there is way more sand necessary at the bottom of the image. Maybe if you condense the image to the best parts, it would be way more effective.   Posted: 11/08/2019 20:48:14
