This was taken on the Advanced Photography Tour of Upper Antelope Slot Canyon in Arizona, near Lake Powell. The guide took handfuls of sand, throwing it on the rock so we could photograph the sand spilling onto the canyon floor.
Shooting in RAW hides so much of the colors, especially that far below the surface above and out of direct sunlight. In Photoshop I used lens correction, shadows, highlights, dehaze and in NIK tonal contrast followed by smart sharpening. Most of the visible spectrum is there. I am still mesmerized by the rock structures carved by rushing waters so long ago.

I love this both ways. Cool how the sand is spilling; nice touch. It is beautiful!   Posted: 03/11/2019 20:42:14

I much prefer the tonal range of the processed version to the original raw file. It is amazing what the camera can record that is not immediately visible. You might want to consider increasing the mid-tone contrast to bring out a bit more of the details in the shadow areas.   Posted: 03/28/2019 08:01:54
