Fishing boats at Port Royal by Julia Parrish

February 2021 - Fishing boats at Port Royal

About the Image(s)

It is of the fishing boats at Port Royal, South Carolina. I liked their reflection in the water. It was taken at 5:30 PM which was during the golden hour and just before sunset at 5:38. It was taken at 18mm, f 5.6 and ISO of 100.

The last light of the day worked well. Sharpness is strong, horizon is good and straight. Overall a nice photo.   Posted: 02/12/2021 08:36:35

Very nice, sharp image. Tells the story of fishing boats at rest. With the new Photoshop sky program, you have a choice of skis you can choose from. This is one of those images.   Posted: 02/14/2021 15:52:22

Thank you. I like the dramatic sky - I haven't tried the sky replace feature yet in Photoshop. My club's competition rules only let us use one of own skies, but that is only for competition.   Posted: 02/15/2021 14:13:10

Welcome Julia, Well seen, sharp, and very well done. As Stuart said, it tells a story. I do like your evening sky even though Stuart's is more dramatic.   Posted: 02/16/2021 19:23:58

Good scene - works well. You have a good sky that is picked out in the water. The sky in Stuart's version is dramatic, but should it not be reflected in the water?
Hope you are enjoying the group.   Posted: 02/23/2021 09:34:54

I actually thought the same thing. I have watched some training on the sky replacement feature and they usually make changes to other areas to reflect the same colors and look more natural.

I am enjoying the group - thanks.   Posted: 02/24/2021 12:38:22

This photo gives me a serene feel. The reflections in the water of the boats and sky are really beautiful! Well Done!   Posted: 02/23/2021 12:10:47

Very well done. Being able to capture some color gives this scene some drama...Yes, I like the one that Sturat did better, and I agree that some color should show in the water. Welcome to our group....With so many creative programs available it's such a temptation to use more dramatic skies....   Posted: 02/26/2021 12:14:31

Thank you! I am having a little trouble wrapping my head around the sky replacement feature - it took me a while to embrace just making content aware changes and other minor repairs - too much of a purist I guess. Thanks for the welcome. Its a fun hobby, and I still have so much to learn.   Posted: 02/26/2021 12:25:56
