Kiger Stallion by Cynthia Briseno

November 2020 - Kiger Stallion

About the Image(s)

The Kiger Stallion was taken in March 2020. 1/500 second exposure, f9, ISO 1250, with my Canon EOS SD Mark IV. I have a HUGE love of horses and I really wanted to capture a Kiger in motion. I wasn't able to find any out in the Bend area but I was treated to see this Stallion at a ranch here in Southern Oregon. I'm going to keep on my quest to find these beauties and hopefully capture some this winter!

Excellent photo. Lighting is great, image is sharp, the portrait of the horse fills the frame nicely. Good job. Good luck with more photos of horses in the future.   Posted: 11/08/2020 18:54:30

Welcome to the group, Cynthia. I love horses too and this capture is well framed and the horse's eyes are sharp. Nice work.   Posted: 11/08/2020 23:48:25

Hi Cynthia. Welcome to the group. Well done image. Like the way the horse is looking at me. Appears that he had a great run. Image is very sharp and the background is nicely blurred.   Posted: 11/09/2020 18:13:43

Thank you Marilyn! I startled him I think when I whistled! LOL   Posted: 11/11/2020 17:05:10

Getting good portraits of horses isn't always that easy. You did a great job by getting him to turn and see what the "noise" was...a minor thing...clone out the one hair that is sticking straight up on his mane. Great detail on his mane and face....Also, welcome to our group....   Posted: 11/20/2020 13:18:40

Cynthia welcome to our group. Very nice close up of the Kiger Stallion. The whistle was a great way to get his attention.   Posted: 11/21/2020 22:08:34

Started horse riding when we retired in our sixties. Haven't done much recently - riding school closed down and Covid 19 lockdown keeps us at home, Nice close-up. What is a Kiger? I thought it might be a cross between a Koala Bear and a tiger, but obviously not!   Posted: 11/30/2020 14:13:40
