Life and Death in the Sonoran Desert by Dave Edwards

November 2020 - Life and Death in the Sonoran Desert

About the Image(s)

Captured this image early this year using a mirrorless Sony a6000 camera. This was an unusual day with it raining on and off in the desert. This scene caught my attention with the contrast between the flowering plants to the dead saguaros. Very miner touch up (cropped and darkened image) using PS.

Good impact. My eyes are led to the broken brush and then around the line of cactus. I would hope for a little more breathing room on top. Over all a great photo.

Love the yellows and greens. My eye goes all around the photo, not sure where the focus is supposed to be but a great photo just the same!   Posted: 11/11/2020 16:53:59

Interesting capture. Like the image. agreed with Cynthia that I am not sure where I am suppose to be looking. Needs cropping but where I am uncertain. Perhaps the bottom and some off both sides?.   Posted: 11/20/2020 12:29:13

One of my comments is regarding "Border Patrol". Many of the old timers in PSA will remember Fran Cox's comments about this...So, when I see an image I do a quick look all around the borders to see if there are any items that need to be removed...hense, the partial cactus on the right border...it needs to go!! Now, for the rest of the image...great color in the yellow bushes which are placed off center...also, having the old, dead limbs on the left really help to tell a story. I might have liked to have seen a bit more sky at the top, but there is just enough to add to the image...well done...   Posted: 11/20/2020 13:26:25

the colors and sunlight are the stars in this image. the Cacti also. some how finding a different anlge if yo go back to this area. the old dead limbs on the left acts as a slide and takes the eye right out of the image. If you crop from the left about an inch or so you still have the limb in the image but it will help define the thrids grid. just be sure to use the space between the cati when choosing to crop.   Posted: 11/21/2020 22:40:09
