October 2020 - Bryggen, Bergen

About the Image(s)

In March this year, we spent a week in Norway, cross country skiing. At the end of the trip we spent a few days in Bergen before flying home. Two days after we arrived, the whole of Norway went into lockdown because of Covid19. All tourist attractions, all restaurants, many shops closed. We got out to take a few photos, but it was quite cold, so we spent a lot of time in our hotel room playing Alfapet (Scrabble in Swedish).

Taken with Olympus OMD EM1 Mark 2, Lumix 35-100 lens at 85mm (equivalent to 170mm) For some reason, carelessness probably, taken at f/11, 1/400, ISO 800. A little bit of forgotten playing around in Topaz, then PS Filter Gallery - Ink Strokes on a layer and some adjustment of opacity on that layer.

Nice array of colors and Scandinavian style construction. The right side shows a bit of distortion.   Posted: 10/06/2020 14:56:45

Not sure what you mean by distortion.   Posted: 10/10/2020 09:09:37

It might be an optical illusion, perhaps the gutters on the rightmost 2 houses are crooked.   Posted: 10/10/2020 12:47:51

Looks like you kept busy with all the down time. The redundancy and brilliant colors make for an interesting and eye catching image. Very creative.   Posted: 10/07/2020 07:57:27

the cropping, the houses's colors and the Ink strokes all enhance the photo and make it dynamic. Well seen and done. There is a bit of distortion on the right.   Posted: 10/08/2020 20:08:10

To me the orange building on the right with the two people in front appears wider in the middle and narrower at the bottom.   Posted: 10/10/2020 09:50:10

I think it is an optical illusion, heightened by the fact that there is a large grey entrance on the left of the building,   Posted: 10/13/2020 10:43:31

Even with a minor "distortion" of the orange building on the right side, the overall is very crisp and sharp...Well, done..You were very lucky to have gotten out when you did, due to the covid shut down...My cruise down the Rhine last May was cancelled, and rebooked for next May...Unless the virus is contained I may not be able to do it at that time either...Will just have to wait and see what the situation is then..   Posted: 10/17/2020 15:00:33

Lovely image. Reminds me of our trip to Bergen some 34 years ago. Very well done and true to the beauty of Norway.   Posted: 10/18/2020 07:17:35

Lovely bright colors and fun image. reality reigns perhaps the orange house had foundation isues on the right side as all others are in perfect alignment. Overall the photo captures the charming environment of Bergen Norway.   Posted: 10/18/2020 09:40:18
