October 2020 - Death Valley photographers

About the Image(s)

Many years ago I signed up for a workshop in Death Valley, CA. Here is one of my favorite images from that workshop...It was taken very early (sunrise) one morning while shooting the sunrise at some sand dunes

Nice silhouette and nice morning light saturation. Nice composition of three.

Taking photographs of photographers make for neat photographs. How's that for a sentence!? Given that, this subject is often overlooked. The Death Valley location gives you a feeling that the bright sun warns you about another hot day. Nicely done, good photo.   Posted: 10/07/2020 07:51:02

I love the image---as I'm sure most photographers would.

The composition is well seen.

May I suggest that you would have a much stronger image if you back off the saturation and the processing just a bit. You have created halos around the photographers and that is a sure sign of over processing   Posted: 10/11/2020 17:49:40

Great capture. You can feel the heat of the valley. I do see the halos around the photographers.   Posted: 10/12/2020 16:20:50

This is a cool composition. The diagonal angle and the colors of the sunrise work well. A nice silhouette and we all are biased in favor of subject including photos of photographers.   Posted: 10/18/2020 11:19:16

My experience is that, although we may appreciate images of photographers, many judges do not seem to reward them. Eye catching image, well seen - perhaps less saturation and toning down the haloes might work.   Posted: 10/21/2020 09:24:17
