About the Image(s)

This very small, almost hidden, springs is found along side a road in our famous Yosemite National Park...It is only about 18" high at the top falls as it flows down over some rocks..

It is best to set your shutter speed to at least 1/15th or slower to blur the movement of the water. This image was taken in the spring when everything is green, but it is also pretty in the fall when the colorful leaves reflect in the upper pool....as the falls are in the shade.

Love the effect of the slow shutter speed, yet not to slow to hide the water streams on the upper fall. There could be an improvement in cleaning up the water spots. I know, you can't avoid it.   Posted: 09/10/2020 15:00:43

I've been to Yosemite 3 times, but never saw this one. You picked the correct shutter speed. Just curious, did you taken any photos of this falls that includes more of its surroundings?   Posted: 09/14/2020 13:10:37

Yes, but it is more difficult to include the upper pool in the scene....actually it is very easy to see once you know where it is....have taken dozens of photos of the falls, which are all on slides, but I haven't been up to shoot it since switching to digital about 8 years ago....As you make the loop in the valley, and turn left to cross the Merced River bridge it is on the right side of the road, about a hundred feet or so along the road way...there is a small turnout for only one or two vehicles to park and shoot the falls.   Posted: 09/14/2020 13:30:21

I just learned that the small falls were totally destroyed several years ago when the Merced River flooded over the road.. So, the falls may not have been restored as of yet...since I haven't been up to Yosemite now for about 5 years or so....   Posted: 09/17/2020 00:11:52

Shirley very neat falls and not having been there I was surprised to here how small it was. I do hope they restore this part of the falls. With the fires close has there been damage to Yosemite NP.   Posted: 09/19/2020 13:12:26

Not yet, but they have evacuated the village and all employees from the valley..Visibility was about 1,000 feet in the valley as of a couple of days ago...

Very interesting photo. Amazed that is is only 18 inches high. The photo makes it appear much larger. Well seen. Hope the falls are still there.   Posted: 09/24/2020 13:18:04
