December 2019 - Black Sand Beach

About the Image(s)

Another Iceland Photo

Even though it was mostly gray and white I converted it to Mono. Adjusted in PSCC and removed another person on beach. Shot in Aperature Prority and ISO 1000.

I like black and white and there is enough change in contrast to accomplish a decent black and white. Including the person adds that human interest to the photo. There are several layers giving the photo a three dimensional look. Good job.   Posted: 12/08/2019 11:23:55

Great impact with the crashing waves...Can almost hear them...Having a figure on the beach also adds to the strength of the scene...If it were my image, I would darken all of the background "rocks" which would give more strength...As they are now, an odd grey tone...Just my opinion...   Posted: 12/08/2019 23:11:30

Certainly can feel the cold and wind while looking at this image. Those crashing waves add so much texture. The person on the beach adds interest and draws you into the image. I like it very much in Black and White. I was on that beach last year and know the biting of the wind and ever-present rain make shots difficult. Nice image.   Posted: 12/10/2019 13:06:35

Know this view of Vik well. We took a picture or two on this beach, leaving our camera bags safe behind us, but had to run to save them when an unexpected wave swept in much further.

I think you could make the Vik rocks a bit darker and perhaps work on the sky a little to bring it out. I might clone a bit of the figures camera out.   Posted: 12/30/2019 15:09:47
