Like this picture very much. Not only is the animal unique it matches the character of the gentleman. Trying to figure out the "bib" on the llama? Is he a panhandler? But that does not fit with the lunch that is sitting on the table. The white beard and the santas in the background really add to the ambiance. Thanks for sharing such an interesting picture.   Posted: 12/07/2017 09:21:46

Not quite sure what a panhandler is, but this guy took his alpaca for a walk each day. Not quite sure what the donations were for - perhaps for the upkeep of his alpacas!   Posted: 12/07/2017 17:26:00

An interesting picture. Being 95 myself, I have to say that I hate old men with white beards. They belong to the middle ages and were banned in WW 2 to prevent transfer of diseases.   Posted: 12/07/2017 13:47:54

Hi, Richard. Although I am 20 years younger than you, I could still be classed as old and I have a white beard!!   Posted: 12/07/2017 16:12:51

A very different scene, certainly not one we would see here in the US...good composition of the animal and the man sitting at the lunch table..   Posted: 12/08/2017 14:43:08

I love very detail of the photo. It looks staged. And the topaz filter worked. Which filter did you use. Great composition.   Posted: 12/10/2017 11:07:15

It wasn't staged. We were walking round Sheffield in Tasmania where they have murals on most of the buildings and we found this bloke outside a café with his alpaca and just snapped him!
Filter was Oily Grime in Topaz with much reduced opacity.   Posted: 12/10/2017 12:12:32

I know it wasn't staged but it everything was so perfectly placed - even the Santa Claus in the window - like we always wish for.   Posted: 12/10/2017 12:49:36

I have had another look at this. The clarity of the detail is amazing. You were lucky to have been there at the right time.
I like the smug look on the Alpacas face. Fancy taking an alpaca for a walk on a lead - WOW!   Posted: 12/13/2017 10:26:51

I seem to remember that the name "panhandler" goes back many centuries ago, to the gold rush days when would be prospectors spent a long time going to parts of America, which were known for finding gold. Pans were used for sorting water from streams and also freshly dug up soil. Panhandlers was the name given for those using them.   Posted: 12/14/2017 09:25:27
