Rusty Hinge by Brian Magor, APSA, MPSA

July 2017 - Rusty Hinge

About the Image(s)

This was taken at the Mining Museum in Cumbria, where I took the train used for my June image. There were masses of rusty machines all over the place/ Taken with Olympus OMD EM1 with standard 1-40mm 2.8 lens at 35mm (equivalent to 70mm). Treated with Oily Grunge effect from Topaz

Love the colors and texture in this photo....which is one of my favorite subjects. I would have liked to see the entire hinge.   Posted: 07/04/2017 19:18:03

An interesting picture. I think that the close up tells the better storey. It would have lost something if the whole hinge was shown in a wider shot.   Posted: 07/05/2017 03:54:25

Good capture of a smiley face on an old rusty hinge. Little too much saturation?   Posted: 07/08/2017 20:20:36

Thanks Dave. I missed the face before. Now I see it!   Posted: 07/09/2017 08:44:33

Yes Dave there is a smiley face. thanks for recognizing it. Love the oily grunge effect in Topaz. Have not used it but it highlights the texture effectively. Well seen.   Posted: 07/23/2017 20:50:33

I didn't see the smiley face either. Maybe it is that symmetry that makes this image so interesting. Using the filter has changed the rusty old metal into beautiful jewel tones. I like it!   Posted: 07/28/2017 19:21:10

Nice grunge texture. Face is cool. Use as texture layer in future. Have been reviewing J Kost Lightroom review.   Posted: 07/31/2017 21:41:04
