About the Image(s)

This is a spring poppy from here in Texas. They are just blooming now, but this was taken a year ago. I used my 105mm macro lens and the settings were f/8, 1/320 sec, ISO 200. I did the basic edits in Lightroom and then took it into Topaz Studio for further editing. I did not use any Topaz filters, just the editing tools. I then cropped it fairly tight to emphasize the center.

Nicely done, Peggy. I love the placement of the yellow part (don't know what it's called), where your eyes head right for it, and the way the rest of the flower appears to radiate out toward the edges. Yellow, green, red and purple all combine to make this a very pleasing image. Looks like you caught this particular specimen at just the right time!   Posted: 04/07/2021 18:34:55

A very pretty image. You found a beautiful flower and did a great job of emphasizing the colors, patterns and textures. Would make a pretty framed photo or notecard from Texas!   Posted: 04/08/2021 11:47:57

I like the positioning of the crop - nicely done. The yellow, I believe, is the pistal - the female reproductive part. I sort of feel the original has more detail there and the final a little more brightness that I wonder if it's needed. It seems a slight bit "blown out" to me...but that's being pretty picky. Overall, great job.   Posted: 04/08/2021 17:22:06

I really enjoyed this one. I like the way you offset the center part of the flower and the color of the background petals is really attractive. I think I might have tried to tone down the center portion of the flower just a bit and enhance the detail to make it not quite so bright. This is really an attractive image. Nice job.   Posted: 04/10/2021 10:10:08

Lovely Poppy Peggy, in spite of the softness in the background. Poppies are bright and the rich colors are very fitting. This is the kind of picture that you can take several images at different levels and then use the Staking process to get it all sharp. I feel that this image would be best presented in the center of a square format and I would include both sides of the purple areas.
