About the Image(s)

First I took the image into Topaz Sharpen AI. Then selected the Iris and put it on a layer by itself. Then created a new layer and filled it with black. To get the black background, I moved the black layer underneath the Iris layer.
I decided to leave the white specks on the front leaf as they should be from the stamen.

This is a beautiful image! Your removal of the original background and replacing it with black was a perfect choice. I wouldn't change a thing. Great work!   Posted: 04/02/2021 08:22:42

Beautiful purple, and I always prefer dark or black backgrounds to isolate and show off the subject. There is a bit of a halo effect around some of the edges -- maybe use a blur tool to lessen the 'cut out' effect?   Posted: 04/07/2021 18:27:07

Thanks, Jerry. When I look close I do see a few places where the selection could be improved.   Posted: 04/07/2021 23:11:02

I can't add much to the other comments. This is a beautiful rendition and the background is absolutely perfect. I wish that the entire flower would've been included in the image. The detail on the stamen really catches my eye. Nice job   Posted: 04/10/2021 10:05:23

Thanks Al. Perhaps I could find one that has more of the right side and merge it with the right side of this one. :)   Posted: 04/10/2021 12:43:19

Your Iris is beautiful with its rich purple tones and sharpness. You sure know how to use your layers to advantage. I would not mind some of the natural background. The only part I would have eliminated was the background iris and bright spot on the lower left side and small spot on the right. However, this does makes a lovely Art Decor image. My only suggestion is to give it a little tilt to the right, to avoid the static vertical look.

Thanks, Joe. Very basic layer use. Lots more to learn about layers.   Posted: 04/12/2021 13:19:38

It's a beautiful iris. The front in particular is nice and sharp and the color is such a gorgeous purple. I like the black background and I agree with Jerry that softening or blurring the edges a little would blend the flower into the background more. Very nice.   Posted: 04/17/2021 13:58:14
