About the Image(s)

I shot this in early August during a camping trip at Rend Lake in southern Illinois. I adjusted the exposure and temperature and used Topaz Detail to increase some of the details.
It was taken with my Canon 80D and a Canon 100mm lens at 1/40 sec at f 7.1

Very interesting shot Marti. I think that's quite a feat to have all this fungi intact, no broken off parts, and basically undisturbed. I like the composition that you have captured, making a nice diagonal up through the image. It feels a little dark to me, but that could be my monitor. Nice job.   Posted: 09/10/2020 14:11:16

I darkened it some from the original but it appears a little too dark on my monitor as well.   Posted: 09/10/2020 17:43:55

Nice job on taking something simple and making it look like extraordinary.   Posted: 09/11/2020 14:41:58

I agree with Peggy and Larry. Really enjoyed looking at this one. I especially like how to brought out the colors and cropped exactly right. Just wondering about another potential shot while you're in a similar situation. I wonder what a shot would look like if you got really close to the fungii and focused exclusively on the fine textures, kinda an abstract image. Just an idea....   Posted: 09/14/2020 14:11:40

On my monitor it does appear too dark and contrasty, but the colors go well together and form a pleasing pattern, especially the single middle fungus being bookended with the two fungi above and below.   Posted: 09/15/2020 06:27:47
