About the Image(s)

I took this picture of a budding pine cone back in 2013 with my Panasonic Lumix. I did some corrections in LR to the exposure and the details.

Now here is a subject I can enjoy perfectly in the center of the frame. After straightening it out, I cropped it with Content Aware selected. I then selected the cones and sharpened a bit, inverted the selection and toned down the background a bit and gave it a .50px Stroke. What do you think?   Posted: 06/10/2020 17:26:07

Joe, what do you mean by cropping with Content Aware selected?   Posted: 06/12/2020 14:13:26

Great shot, Marti. When I saw the thumbnail I figured you had used the zoom tool. Very dynamic lines bursting out from the flower almost as if it was a star radiating energy. The hard edges of the leaves (or needles?) contrast nicely with the round shapes of the cone. Very good soft box effect. I don't think I've seen a cone at this stage of development. You really had your creative eye working overtime on this one!   Posted: 06/11/2020 06:35:09

I really like close-ups. They especially accentuate the beautiful, tiny details in nature. In my opinion, Joe's edits just enhanced your nice image.   Posted: 06/11/2020 08:34:33

Beautiful shot Marti. It's almost like a flower arrangement - a corsage. Nice starburst effect. I like what Joe has done to it too.   Posted: 06/12/2020 14:12:44

Beautiful leading line, contrasting textures and colors. The foliage in the back creates a nice frame for the cones. Joe's edits truly enhanced a beautiful image.   Posted: 06/13/2020 09:04:44
